SwCh SW-04 Ameqqarzounadu (aka Kermit)
Photo by Erika Tönder The youngest baby in the family is my Azawakh male, affectionately known as Kermit. Long-time friend Susannah Kemp (formerly Thyni) introduced me to her stunning Azawakh bitch Mouli de Garde-Epee (aka Lisen) some years ago, and I fell head over heels in love with the breed. I promptly put myself on the waiting list for a future puppy, and after several years of waiting Kermit was born on April 27th 2003. Since Susannah was now living in England I followed Kermit via her
website during the first three months. He finally Kermit is an amazing personality, and I fully understand all of those that say that once you've lived with an Azawakh, you cannot consider another breed again. I feel just the same! He's so bright it's almost scary, and at the same time he's one of the most loving and affectionate dogs I've known... with his friends and family, that is. The Azawakh is the only sighthound breed that has been bred to be a guard dog, and as such they regard strangers with a great deal of suspiscion. If you would like to learn a bit more about Azawakhs, I recommend this article by David Moore, as well as this one written by Corine Lundquist of Kennel Garde-Epee. Kermit is currently one of five Azawakhs in Sweden. I've only shown him lightly but he's done wonderfully so far. For some show photos and judge's critiques, go here. |
