Welcome to the page for my current Saluki - Caravan's Qaatim Ibn Vagrant aka Ådi (Odie for you English-speaking folks).

I was struggling with depression after the passing of my beloved Morafic and had decided not to have another dog for some time. However, my friend Susannah thought otherwise and sent an email to Morafic's breeder, Lotta Brun of Caravan Kennels.

I got an email from Lotta letting me know she currently had a litter of Morafic relatives (nephews) and sent me some photos. I picked little Ådi out from the photos she sent and went to meet my little pupster for the first time a wee bit later. A case of love at first sight...

Ådi looks so much like Morafic it's eerie - the only major differences are that Ådi is red and slightly smaller than his uncle.

Temperament-wise they're nothing alike tho - I couldn't have picked a better name for this little guy as he's.. well... a bit dense ;)... but also an incredibly sweet-tempered and happy bugger! His disposition really is his best feature and is commented on by everyone who meets him.

Salukis tend to get more and more dignified as they grow older, which has certainly been the case here as well. Odie can get mightily insulted by what he perceives as unjust treatment (such as being told to get off my bed...), and my poor Azawakh Kermit has gotten his fair share of whacks across the head for "daring" to disturb the lord of the manor. ;)

It's been a great relief that he's been completely sound - not a serious health problem in sight (knock on wood). I don't show him as he's of an older and coarser type that's pretty unpopular in the showring :/. His only "job" is to be a much beloved companion, which he certainly excels at!

I'm currently working on a Traditional sized original sculpture that will be a portrait of Odie. I plan to cast it in resin in early 2005. The pose? Check out the photo at the top of the page!
